Sinn Fein are calling for Shannon Councillor Cathy McCafferty to resign her seat from the town council following her expulsion from the party.
Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Ferris has today confirmed to Clare FM that Councillor McCafferty has been expelled, though he did not say why. He also says she has a ‘moral obligation’ to hand over her seat to another party member.
At this week’s meeting of Shannon Town Council, Cathy McCafferty told her fellow Councillors that she wished to carry on her work as an elected representative, albeit on an independent basis.
