Hundreds of support staff at University Hospital Limerick will be balloted on industrial action over the coming weeks, and the union says that if the majority vote in favour, it won't co-operate with the opening of the new ED.

The UL Hospitals Group says it has been engaging in discussions with staff and representatives over several months, but the union is disputing this.
