Sixmilebridge Councillor Doubts Ennis-Limerick Line Will Re-Open In May

A Sixmilebridge councillor says he's extremely doubtful that the Ennis to Limerick rail line will be be opened next month.

That's despite an announcement from Irish Rail that they expect water levels to fall enough for them to resume a full service by the middle of May, barring any further heavy rain.

A section of track remains underwater at Ballycar, Newmarket-on-Fergus following the heavy rain of recent months, with shuttle buses operating along the route since December.

Iarnroid Eireann say they are monitoring the situation, however Fianna Fail Councillor Alan O'Callaghan says local knowledge suggests that commuters are in for a longer wait than is been forecast by the company.
