Sixmilebridge Councillor John Crowe has been unanimously elected as the new Mayor of Clare.

The Fine Gael representative has taken the chains of office from party colleague Joe Arkins at the annual general meeting of Clare County Council this afternoon.
Fianna Fail's Tony O'Brien from Killaloe has been elected the new Deputy Mayor of Clare, after returning from a five year absence from the Council chamber today.
Addressing a large crowd at Aras Chontae an Chlair, Mayor John Crowe described today as his "proudest moment as an elected representative".
