‘Smash And Grab’ Break-In In Ennis

Gardaí are investigating the latest 'smash and grab' style burglary, which occurred at an electrical store in Ennis overnight.

At about 3:10 this morning, a silver car with a 98- or 99-C registration pulled up outside Ennis Electrical on Parnell Street.

At least two men got out of the vehicle, and used sledgehammers to break through the shop's door.

After gaining access to the store, they took a large quantity of valuable electrical items – they fled the scene within three minutes.

Just over half an hour later, Gardaí received a report of a care on fire at Ballyhannon in Quin.

This vehicle is also silver in colour, and Gardaí are linking the two crime scenes as part of their investigation.

Forensic examinations are underway, while witnesses have been interviewed and CCTV footage is being examined.

This ‘smash and grab’ style break in is similar to an incident at Cassidy's Pharmacy last month, during which 20 thousand euro worth of stock was stolen.

It's believed that Gardaí are investigating whether this latest robbery is linked with that crime and other similar incidents in the Munster area.
