Solicitor Charged With Theft Of 2.8 Million Euro

A former partner at a Dublin law firm is to stand trial charged with the theft of 2.8 million euro from the practice.

42 year old Ruairi O’Ceallaigh of Collegeland, Summerhill, Co Meath has been remanded on bail until January.

In a dark suit and tie Ruairi O’Ceallaigh sat with his hands in his lap through his first District Court appearance.

The 42 year old, was arrested by appointment in Dublin this morning.
 

He is accused of dishonestly appropriating 2.8 million euro from his family’s law practice Sean O’Ceallaigh and Company which was based in Phibsborough.
 

Much of the money was allegedly taken from the firm’s client accounts between 2006 and 2010.
 

Det Sgt Paschal Walsh gave evidence the solicitor made no reply to the 7 charges.
 

The DPP has directed trial on indictment and Judge Patricia McNamara has released Ruairi O’Ceallaigh on bail until his next court date on January 16th for service of the book of evidence.
