A South East Clare man will become the newest and youngest priest in the Diocese of Killaloe this afternoon. (3pm)
28 year old Ger Jones from O’Briensbridge will be ordained by Bishop Kieran O’Reilly in St. Flannan’s Church in Killaloe.
Ger is the son of Nicholas and Chrissie Jones from Bridgetown and studied science at the University of Limerick prior to his studies for the priesthood in Maynooth and Rome.
Following his ordination today, Ger will take up appointment as curate in the parish of Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
Despite a major decline in Catholic Vocations, today’s ordination will be Bishop O’Reilly’s second this year – 31 year old Fr. Ger Fitzgerald from Castleconnell was ordained earlier this summer and is now based in Ennis.
