Police have shot dead five men wearing bomb belts in a second terror attack in Spain overnight.
Seven people were injured in the coastal town of Cambrils.
Authorities say it is being linked to the van attack in Barcelona – in which 13 people died and at least 100 others were hurt.
Armed police are still searching for the driver who ploughed into crowds of tourists on the famous Las Ramblas yesterday – while a third person has now been arrested.
Islamic State has claimed it was responsible.
Amy McColgan from Letterkenny in Donegal was nearby and said it was a terrifying experience.
An Irish family of four was among those injured in the incident on Las Ramblas yesterday.
A man and wife, originally from the Philippines but naturalised Irish citizens, and their two children who were born in Ireland were caught-up in the attack.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
World leaders have condemned the attacks.
President Michael D Higgins said he was saddened by the tragic loss of life, while Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has called it a ‘callous’ attack.
The Spanish royal family have said they won’t be terrorised by criminals and assassins.
While US President Donald Trump said they’ll do whatever is necessary to help, and told the people of Barcelona to stay strong.
