Spike In Overcrowding At Region’s Main Hospital

Nurses say the region's main hospital has experienced a spike in overcrowding once again today.

The latest figures from the INMO show 40 people were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 27 of those in the emergency department.

It's the highest of any hospital in the country today, with the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar recording the second highest figure of 28.

It comes on a day when over 200 people are awaiting beds at hospitals around the country.
