West Clare was left without emergency ambulance cover for almost seven hours yesterday as the ongoing crisis with staff shortages continues.
One paramedic reported for duty in Kilrush at 8 o'clock yesterday morning but was later sent to Ennis to carry out other duties.

It wasn't until 3 o'clock in the afternoon when a decision was made to take a rapid response vehicle out of service in order to transfer staff to West Clare.
Kilrush Councillor Ian Lynch has been telling me that the current situation will lead to serious and possibly fatal consequences
