At least 1,750 people will take to Clare’s roads this weekend for the inaugural Sky Ride Etape Hibernia this Sunday.
Ireland’s first ever closed-roads cycle gets underway this Sunday morning – participants will travel on an 80 mile route which starts and ends in Ennis, and takes in much of North and West Clare.
Irish cycling legend Sean Kelly, Olympic Champion Denise Lewis and comedian PJ Gallagher are among those who will be taking part.
On-line entries are now closed for the event, though people who have not registered but still wish to take part can submit their entries at Glor in Ennis this Saturday
Meanwhile church goers and businesspeople are being advised that allowances will be made for escorted access – road closures will be in place on a staggered basis in Ennis, Ruan, Corofin, Ballyvaughan, Doolin, Lahinch, Spanish point, Connolly, Kilmaley and Inch
