Met Eirean has issued a status Orange Weather Warning for County Clare this weekend.
High winds and high seas are expected over the next 48 hours, with blustery showers inland making flooding a risk in some areas.
Gardai across the county are urging drivers to exercise extreme care on the roads this afternoon.
Tom Tiernan, Senior Engineer with Clare County Council is also advising people to avoid coastal areas.
