A stolen tractor and trailer worth up to €80,000 have been recovered in West Clare – some 200km from where they were taken in Laois.
The Massey Ferguson 6480 and a 20ft Broughan grain trailer were stolen from a farmyard near Mountmellick in Co. Laois on January 12th.
They were spotted on CCTV in Birdhill, in Tipperary, that same night.
A joint operation between the Laois and Clare Garda divisions led to the discovery of the trailer in the Kildysart area last week – while subsequent investigations led to the tractor being found in a lock-up in Lisseycasey this week.
They have been taken into Garda possession and identified as the stolen machines – a Garda investigation is continuing.
