Disappointed residents of Stonehall, Newmarket on Fergus say their opposition to a proposed 85 million euro power plant will continue.
That’s despite Clare County Council’s decision last evening to rezone an 80 acre tract of land near Shannon to allow for the development of a green energy power plant.
Carbon Sole Industries is seeking to construct the combined heat and power plant at the site, but that still requires planning approval, and locals say they will remain involved in that process.

However Council Officials hope the rezoning will lead to the creation of a Carbon Free Zone for Clare which would lead the way in Green Technology and significantly boost local employment.
