Its hoped Sixmilebridge mart could be up and running again in 2011 following a long campaign by local farming and community representatives
The group has now secured a deal to purchase the 4.5 acre Sixmilebridge mart site at Ballysheen from Golden Vale Marts at a cost of 300,000 euro.
The deal has been approved by Golden Vale, but the local ownership offer now depends on ratification at a meeting likely to be held in Sixmilbridge next Thursday, and a decision on whether a local company or co op will be formed.
