Suggestion Of Resumption Of Religious Services Give ‘Hope’ To Clare Parishioners

The Communications Director for the Diocese of Killaloe says the suggestion that religious services could resume in public in some form next month will provide hope to parishioners.

The Government is set to unveil its plans for a further reopening of society next week, with Taoiseach Michael Martin suggesting Mass and other religious services could return in a limited capacity.

A new measure making it a criminal offence to attend certain types of indoor events or gatherings was widely criticised by the Church last week.

Killaloe Diocesan spokesperson, Fr Brendan Quinlivan, says the return of such services even in a limited form will provide structure to parishioners’ lives.
