Sunday Weddings Considered To Cope With Church Backlog

Wedding ceremonies could be held on Sundays, for the first time in many years.

This is due to the high number of ceremonies that had to be postponed or cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s one of a number of changes being considered for those celebrating mass to go alongside adopted measures such as social distancing, and face coverings for priests and eucharistic ministers during communion.

The Daily Mail reports that over 12,000 weddings have been cancelled across the country, and Bishop of Killaloe, Fintan Monahan, says the Church is now open to accomodating rescheduled ceremonies on Sundays.
