But there’s good news for those awaiting organ transplants – with a surge in donations in the first three months of this year.

It comes as the Irish Donor Network launches an awareness campaign – encouraging people to pledge their support.
The traditional donor card is still in use, but people can also register as donors by downloading an app on a smartphone.
