The prohibition order for swimming in Kilkee will not be lifted today.
Water samples were taken yesterday from the beach area in the coastal town, following a malfunction of Irish Water’s sewage infrastructure there over the weekend.
Clare County Council has told Clare FM that ’empirical analysis data’ currently doesn’t support the lifting of the ban as of today.

The local authority says sampling and monitoring are ongoing, as is consultation with the HSE.
