The anti-austerity party Syriza is on course to lead the next government in Greece.

The party looks set to be a couple of seats short of an overall majority after taking 36 per cent of the popular votes.

Greek leftist leader Alexis Tsipras is expected to hold coalition talks later today with the small Independent Greeks party which, like Syriza, opposes Greece's bailout deal with the EU and IMF.

The win has sparked fears that economic uncertainty could spread throughout Europe.

It's expected to be high on the agenda for discussions at today's regular meeting of Eurozone Finance Ministers, which Michael Noonan is due to attend.
