Proposals to airlift critically ill patients from North and West Clare to Limerick Regional Hospital have moved a step forward.
The HSE’s held preliminary talks with the Defence Department about establishing an Air Ambulance Unit at Shannon.
It was one of the issues to emerge at a meeting in the Dáil between the Clare Oireachtas members, HSE boss Brendan Drumm and the consultants charged with implementing the reconfiguration of health services in the Mid West.
Fine Gael TD Pat Breen who attended the briefing says, considering Dooradoyle now has a Helipad to accommodate air ambulances, it’s a very workable solution and one he will pursue vigorously
