Talks On UL Hospitals Group Pay Row Break Down

Hopes of finding a resolution in the dispute between 500 staff at the UL Hospitals Group and the HSE have been dealt a blow.

LRC talks, surrounding the €250,000 salary of one senior manager, broke down yesterday.

Staff, who are concerned that the salary is taking funds away from frontline services, have been engaged in a work to rule over recent weeks, including at including Ennis General.

The consultant's fee, which exceeds the public sector pay cap, is paid to a private agency company and IMPACT says the HSE had planned to replace him in September, but then keep him in a different role, at the same salary, until later in the year.
