The Clare Vocational Education Committee will discuss proposals to merge the body with it’s counterpart in North Tipperary at it’s monthly meeting today
Under proposals from the Education Minister Mary Coughlan, VECs nationwide are to to be combined, bringing the total number from 33 to 16.
Speaking to Clare FM last week, CEO of the Clare VEC George O’Callaghan said it was unclear how this would affect services here, though he was confident that it wouldn’t lead to job losses.
However, the county’s local representatives are united in their opposition to the move and have called on the Minister to change her mind
