There are fears that Clare tourism could be damaged by proposed industrial action at Aer Lingus.
Efforts to try and avert a strike by pilots at the former state carrier gets underway today as Air Lingus management attend talks facilitated by the Labour Relations Commission later this morning.
Members of the Irish Airline Pilots Association has served airline management with notice of industrial action from next Tuesday – which could lead to a full cancellation of services, effecting up to 30 thousand people a day.
IALPA and Aer Lingus have agreed to meet at the Labour Relations Commission to try and avert the action, which centres on a row over pilot rostering arrangements and shortages.
However Clare Fianna Fail TD and Opposition spokesperson for Transport, Tourism and Sport – Timmy Dooley – feels the Minister for Transport needs to intervene
