Tánaiste Says Budget Won’t Be As Tough As Previously Expected

The Tánaiste’s insisting the budget should see taxes and spending cuts of less than 3.1 billion euro.

But Eamon Gilmore says the final figure will not be decided on until much closer to the budget.

That’s despite the fact the Cabinet will get sight tomorrow of the exchequer returns for the first nine months of the year – one of the final pieces of economic data to be published before the budget.

The Tánaiste says the Government will meet economic targets set out by the Troika on a correction of less than 3.1 billion.
