Eamon Gilmore says there are no plans to arm rebels battling the Assad regime in Syria in the short term.
The Tánaiste was speaking after the EU agreed to lift its embargo against arming Syrian rebels, but the decision to supply arms is being left up to each nation individually.

Ministers did however agree to stick to safeguards against misuse and to respect EU rules on arms exports.
