Tanaiste to face grilling over Mid West Jobs Crisis

The Tanaiste will face questions about the government’s response to the jobs crisis in Clare and Limerick as she visits the Mid-West today.

Minister Mary Coughlan will open the "Dynamic Regions – Future Direction in Regional Development" Conference at Thomond Park in Limerick this morning, which will hear views on national economic recovery from an international expert panel.

Her visit comes following criticism of the government’s failure to act on the report of the Mid-West Jobs Task force which was set up in the wake of 1900 redundancies at Dell and other jobs losses in Limerick and Shannon.

Shannon Development’s Vincent Cunnane is also Chief Executive of the Task Force and hopes practical steps will soon be taken to address the unemployment crisis in the local region
