The Tanaiste says Shannon Development will continue to play a very important role in Mid West region in term of getting the local economy back on track.
Mary Coughlin was responding to fears over the future of the regional authority after The Mc Carthy report recommended that its job creation and support functions should be taken over by Enterprise Ireland and the IDA and its land assets sold off.
The head of Shannon Development has vigourly defended the agency’s role in the Mid West and stated that it was streamlined, self financing and generated all its own income.
