Fresh efforts to boost Clare Tourism will be made today when the Taoiseach launches several initiatives in the county.
However Brian Cowen’s visit is likely to be overshadowed by today’s new opinion poll which spells disaster for the government party and places Labour top of the poll.
The Taoiseach will arrive in East Clare at 3 o’clock where he will unveil a loyalty card devised by Shannon Development.
The Shannon Region Loyalty Card will offer a 25 percent discount on attractions in the region to try and draw in more overseas visitors.
That event gets underway in McNamara’s in Scarriff in where Brian Cowen will also unveil a new website, which has been set up to assist rural tourism businesses and groups in the Midwest.
Mr Cowen will also unveil details for the up coming Harbour Festival in the town and launch a new Lough Derg Ferry Service as well as open a local solicitors office.
Following a briefing with the media in Ennis, Brian Cowen will then travel to Mountshannon for the opening of a new crèche development at 8:00 pm and then will attend a Fianna Fail event marking the retirement of long time councillor and Bodyke native Colm Wiley.
