Taoiseach to view flood hit parts of Clare

 

The Taoiseach is set to visit flood hit areas in Clare today to see first hand the devastation caused over the past few days.

Parts of Ennis including the Gort Road are still heavily flooded with dozens of homes evacuated and over 100 in temporary accommodation at the West County Hotel

After a weekend of Heavy rain and rising river levels, Clare County Council says it’s still extremely concerned about the flood situation and is continuing  the 24/7 response until further notice.

Meanwhile

Clare Crisis Management Centre have issued a warning of further flooding along the lower River Shannon over the coming days owing to increasing levels of water in the Shannon system. 

The areas concerned are O’Briensbridge, Clonlara, Westbury and Shannon Banks.

The situation is now one of the priority areas and emergency services are continuing to monitor the situation in conjunction with the ESB at Ardnacrusha.
