Clare TD’s are being told to butt out of local planning issues.
Clare County Council has revealed that around 400 representations are made by Dail Deputies each year, mainly in relation to housing applications, and some members claim TD’s have been suggesting they have more influence than councillors in such decisions.

Other Councillors insisted TDs have as much right to make representations as Councillors but Brian Meaney of the Green Party in Ennis says they’re confusing local and national politics as well as wasting time and money
