A London-based teacher, whose mother hails from Lissycasey, will find out today if he will receive a one million dollar award for his work.
Colin Hegarty, who gave up accountancy to teach maths, is one of ten finalists for the Varkey Foundation Global Teacher prize.

It's given to teachers who have made an outstanding contribution to their profession.
Colin has used online videos to reach out to children throughout the world, and says he's also tried to teach his students about the importance of hard work.
