Teachers To Begin Junior Cycle Action

Second level teachers will withdraw their co-operation for the planned new Junior Cycle programme from this morning.

Last month, the ASTI and TUI teachers unions – which represent around 27,000 secondary school teachers- voted for the action, over plans by the Education Minister to replace the Junior Cert.

The unions say they have a number of concerns about the new scheme- particularly the assessment process.
