A teenager with an address in O’Callaghans Mills has appeared in court, charged with possession of 2 petrol bombs in Limerick City.
Christopher Keane of Derrymore East was brought before Ennis District Court last evening after he had been arrested and charged earlier in Limerick city.
He faces one charge of possessing two petrol bombs with intent to damage a car in a way likely to endanger life, as well as a second charge under the Explosive Substance Act.
The offences are alleged to have occurred at an address in the southside of Limerick city.
Last evening, Judge Olann Kelleher was told that Mr Keane "is aligned with individuals in Limerick charged with serious offences".
Garda Paul Crowley of Roxboro Road garda station added that "items" were found in close proximity to the home of a state witness who was under 24-hour protection and that the accused had been seen close to this witness in the past week.
An application for bail on behalf of Mr. Keane was refused – he was remanded in custody to appear at Limerick District Court tomorrow.
