An 18-year-old man is to appear in court later charged in connection with a serious assault on a Cavan pensioner last year.
73-year-old Johnny Golden died in hospital last October, four weeks after being attacked at his home near Killeshandra.
It was neighbours who found him seriously injured at his home in Nedd, Doogary in Killeshandra in September of last year.
The pensioner, who was not married and lived alone, had been badly assaulted – and had suffered serious head and internal injuries.
He was rushed to hospital but died on October 7th.
As part of the investigation, gardaí last night arrested an 18 year old man.
He’s being held at Ballyconnell Garda Station and will be brought before a special sitting of the local district court this morning.
