Cabinet ministers are to hold daily meetings between now and budget day – to decide on the cuts to be made next month.
Ministers meet this morning to discuss the 700-million euro worth of savings which must be made in the department of social protection.
With two weeks to go to budget day – cabinet ministers will begin the final phase of their financial discussions today.

Yesterday minister Joan Burton confirmed that a 10 euro cut in child benefit was being considered,
however she also said other alternatives are being examined – such as making employers pay for sick leave, and redundancy costs.
Ministers are also to examine paring back the lone parents allowance – its currently available for children under 14, and the minister is considering reducing the age threshold to 7 years.
