ESB says it's confident of reducing the number of Clare customers who are without electricity, but warns some are facing a third night in the dark.
Currently 6300 people are without power, a number which has risen since this morning as further faults develop, but crews are out in force throughout the county, including some which have been drafted in from other areas.
Flood warnings remain in place, meanwhile, but Met Eireann forecast an ease in the levels of rain across the afternoon.
A county-wide alert is in place, but close attention is being paid to the situations in Ennis and flood-prone communities along by the River Shannon in South-East Clare in particular.
Met Eireann's flood warning is in place until tonight, while Clare County Council is urging vigilance across the weekend.
