Its claimed over 11,400 asthmatics in Clare are at risk of potentially fatal asthma attacks caused by the flu.
That’s the warning from the Asthma Society of Ireland ahead of the winter months as they call on people to get the flu vaccine.
The flu virus causes swelling and narrowing of the airways in the lungs, along with excess mucus and these three factors can trigger an asthma attack, which for some can be fatal.

The charity recommends washing your hands frequently, cleaning surfaces such as your phone and to get plenty of sleep.
