Demonstrations are being held in Shannon, Westbury and Ennis today and are being organised by a variety of groups who are campaigning against the new tax.

There are more than 90 demostrations taking place across the country.

Organisers of today's Right 2 Water campaign, which is the largest public demonstration in the lifetime of this Government, are expecting over a hundred thousand people take to the streets across the country.

Abbey street and O'Connell street in Ennis will close this afternoon to accomodate the anti water protests.

Rolling closures will be in place once the march gets underway towards Clon road and back around to Abbey street.

Ennis Gardaí will be monitoring the situation and say they expect Abbey Street and O'Connell steet to close around 2 o'clock.

There are no road closures planned for Shannon, with the protest there expected to get underway at 1 o'clock.
