A 2 year old girl has died after a hit and run at the Phoenix Park in Dublin while another has been seriously hurt in an incident in Co. Galway.
In Dublin, the little girl died in the early hours of this morning at Temple Street Children's University Hospital, after she was knocked down on the North Road at around half past six yesterday evening.
A 24 year old man was arrested shortly afterwards – he was initially detained at Cabra station and transferred to Blanchardstown overnight.
Separately, a 16-month-old toddler is in a serious condition in hospital after she was run over in the driveway of a house in Galway yesterday evening.
The incident happened in an area called Kilbannon in Tuam at around 6pm.
She was rushed to Galway University Hospital and later transferred to Temple Street in Dublin.
Gardaí say the girl's condition is described as serious.
