A total ban on visiting is in place at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick due to the winter vomiting bug.
There are six confirmed cases in three wards and strict infection control precautions are in place through out the hospital.
As a result of the ban visiting is currently permitted only in the case of critically ill patients and paediatrics and children under fourteen, should not visit the hospital
Patients attending Accident and Emergency are being asked to only do so if absolutely necessary.
Out patient admissions have NOT been affected although patients will have to produce their appointment cards to gain entry to the hospital.
