The new Tourism Minister’s optimistic about the future of Shannon Airport, despite falling tourism numbers in the Midwest
Speaking in the Dáil Mary Hanafin revealed that she’s to meet with Shannon Development to discuss the serious challenges facing the region.

The Defence Minister and Clare TD Tony Killeen has already indicated that he’s been in contact with the various agencies in the region with a view to looking at addressing some of the problems.
Passenger numbers through Shannon have plummeted in the past few months and the airport face further difficulty with the withdrawal of many of Ryanair’s short haul services.
