Hope That Technology Can Play Part In Addressing “Over Tourism” Issues

Hope is being expressed that technology can play a part in helping sites like the Cliffs of Moher deal with “over tourism”.

It follows a conference at Dromoland Castle over the weekend, which heard of concerns over the sustainability of high visitor numbers to natural attractions such as the Cliffs.

A number of tourism experts joined in the discussion, which looked at issues including climate change and increased emphasis on protecting nature.

Professor of Tourism Policy at the University of Limerick Jim Deegan was among them – he feels it’s important to prepare these sites from the effects of large visitor numbers.
