Coast Guard volunteer Caitríona Lucas has been awarded a posthumous medal for her bravery.
The 41-year-old Liscannor woman tragically lost her life when her boat overturned during a rescue mission off the Kilkee coast in September of last year.
The Lucas family accepted the gold medal for bravery – which is the state’s highest honour for an individual – at Farmleigh House in Dublin today.
