The Transport Minister has accepted an invitation to visit Bunratty Castle and see first-hand the opportunities there to bring in more visitors.
Clare’s Independent TD Dr Michael Harty issued the invitation in the Dáil, where he called on the state to take a more active role in supporting Shannon Heritage, which operates the castle and folk park.
Shannon Heritage, which is a company of the Shannon Group, is a commercial semi-state body, is responsible maintaining and promoting many historical sites in Clare.

Deputy Harty wants increased funding to be allocated to it but Minister Ross says it’s important not to undersell how well Shannon Heritage is performing:
