Travel tax could be scrapped under Government’s jobs initiative

 

 

The 3 euro travel tax at Shannon Cork and Dublin Airports could be scrapped today as part of the government’s new jobs plan.

The initiative is understood to be part of key efforts to tackle unemployment levels across the country and employers, unions and other interest groups have already submitted their proposals.

However Fianna Fáil is dubbing it a "three card trick" as a new  levy or tax on pension funds could be announced to pay for the plans.

Head of Communications at Ryanair, Stephen McNamara, says abolishing the travel tax  would be a step in the right direction for the tourism industry here:
