Treacherous Conditions On Clare Roads Following Subzero Temperatures

Gardaí are urging motorists in Clare are urged to drive with extreme care this morning after subzero temperatures have resulted treacherous conditions on some roads.

Temperatures of minus 1 degrees have been recorded at the Shannon weather station in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services have been alerted to two road crashes in the county in the past hour – a car left the road on the Paradise Road in Ballynacally, while two cars collided about a mile outside of Bodyke village.

There are no reports of injuries.

There are reports of slippery conditions on the N68 between Darragh and the Kilrush side of Lisseycasey, in the Knockalough and Tulla areas, in and around Kilmihil and The Hand, as well as on the Inagh to Kilnamona road.

A low level yellow weather alert remains in place until Saturday, with the worst of the weather expected on Thursday.

Gardaí are warning drivers to be on the look out for icy stretches in sheltered or areas and are advising motorists to slow down and drive with care when out and about on the roads over the coming days.
