Concerns over the lack of a properly functioning waste water treatment plant to service a North Clare housing development are being addressed by Clare County Council.
Holland Park in Liscannor is one of two estates in the area served by a private sewerage facility but it hasn’t been operational for some time.
A spoksperson for Clare County Council says the plant is located on private land and that while the authority instigated legal proceedings, difficulties arose with the lease and the number of parties involved.
However the housing estate is now being connected up to the public sewer, pending the construction of a planned wastewater treatment plant for Liscannor.
North Clare Fine Gael Councillor Martin Conway has told Clare FM that this is welcome news for the village.
