The Mayor of Clare has described the election of Michael D. Higgins to the Aras as another incredible tribute to the political leadership that Co. Clare has given the nation.
Councillor Pat Hayes has extended his congratulations to the Newmarket on Fergus man after he secured over a million votes to become the 9th president of Ireland.
He garnered almost 21 thousand first preference votes here in Clare or over 44 percent of the local vote .
