The number of patients on trolleys at the region’s main hospital is continuing to rise – despite an overall reduction nationally.
The INMO’s November trolleywatch figures show there were 878 people waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick last month – up 11% on the same month last year.
At Ennis General Hospital, 13 people were listed by the INMO on their daily trolley watch releases last month.

In recent weeks, management at University Hospital Limerick have warned of pressures on the system, folowing on from diagnoses of the winter vomiting bug.
Overall, 6682 were on trolleys in Irish hospitals last month, marking a drop of almost 340 on the previous year – though it’s still nearly double the figure of decade ago.
